Cooking is fun. And part of the pleasure of cooking and entertaining is creating delectable dishes without spending hours in the kitchen. That’s been the focal point my cooking classes and award-winning newspaper features for over two decades. I love quick-to-prepare dishes, luscious concoctions that show off my full-flavored style, especially those that use fresh fruits and vegetables to their best advantage.

Travel offers great eating opportunities and a unique chance to explore new cuisines. Culinary tours offer up-close looks at the people and the place. I conduct international and domestic culinary tours on a regular basis, seeking new ingredients, techniques and ideas. I pioneered the use of culinary-based flash videos on the Web, taping hundreds of cooking “how-to’s” and celebrity interviews. Slicing, simmering and sautéing, I’ve shot with celebrity chefs, such as Jacques Pepin and Marcus Samuelsson, as well as cookbook authors and restaurateurs from around the globe.

These short videos have spotlighted everything from beer-can chicken with Steven Raichlen to molecular cuisine (turning melon puree into “caviar”) with Rob Wilson. And yes, I’ve gone behind the bar and whipped up cocktails with a cast of talented bartenders.
